DAV Picks Up New Van

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) from the Parkland are pleased to finally have the van they have raised money for during the past two years. On hand to celebrate transfer of the keys at John J. Pershing Veterans Administration Medical Center in Poplar Bluff are (left to right at Pershing Medical Center): Rhonda Coleman, hospital coordinator; Mickey Gebelhardt, DAV service officer; Raphael Wahwassuck, past DAV state commander; Gene Wheat, DAV state commander; Nancy Arnold, medical center director; LaDonna Nelson, volunteer driver; Don Nelson, DAV recruiter; and Larry Cochran, West Plains DAV driver. Back in Farmington at the VA’s Robert Silvey Outpatient Clinic in Farmington, the clinic’s staff greets Nelson and the van: (Left to right) Dr. Napoleon Almaria, Shannon Strothmann, Susan Smith, Carolyn Penuel, LaDonna Nelson, Don Nelson. The DAV will use the van to take veterans from Farmington to the Medical Center. Any veteran may reserve a seat on the van by calling the Medical Center’s DAV division at 573-778-4616
